Our Doctors
Dr Lara Cunneen
PGCertHealth Sciences (Otago), MBChB, FRNZCGP
Lara grew up in Christchurch. She considers herself fortunate to have had a couple of major careers that have meant she has worked in many places within NZ and overseas.
She was an Emergency Nurse prior to attending and graduating from Medical School in Otago. She loves being a doctor and has worked largely in Auckland in General Medicine, Cardiology, Women’s and Sexual health, and now in General Practice.
Her medical interests include: Women’s/ Children’s health, Sexual Health and the complexities of chronic condition management. She is confident with IUCD/Jadelle insertions.
She has recently attained her Fellowship in General Practice and cannot wait to settle into Dee St and Mount Maunganui itself and explore with her partner, and family. When she has spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, reading and watching a good movie.
Dr Kate Fitzmaurice
Kate’s whakapapa (ancestry) is to Te Aupōuri in the Far North, though she grew up in Taupo and is grateful to now call Mount Maunganui home. She graduated from University of Otago in 2018, and has since worked across the country as a Paediatric registrar before starting GP training and joining the team at Dee street in 2025.
Her areas of interest include children and adolescent health, women’s health and Māori and Pacifica health, but she is enjoying navigating the wide variety of other health issues seen in General Practice. She is trained in Mirena insertion, and continuing to gain experience in minor skin surgeries.
In her spare time Kate enjoys running, spending time in the outdoors, reading, playing padel and making pottery.
Dr Kat Hodkin
Kat graduated from Imperial College London in 2012 with an intercalated BSc in Neuroscience and Mental Health. She obtained her MRCGP in 2018 and has since worked in general practice on the south coast of the UK, with a short stint in Gisborne, NZ in 2016.
Kat and her family have always dreamed of returning to New Zealand and are delighted to now call Mount Maunganui home.
She enjoys all aspects of general practice, with a particular interest in lifestyle medicine and supporting patients to make sustainable changes that improve their long-term health and wellbeing.
Outside of work, she enjoys running, yoga and gardening. She lives locally with her husband and their two daughters and is excited to be part of the Mount community.
Dr Rose Kilburn
MBChB, PGDipOMG, DCH, FRNZCGP
Rose grew up in Mount Maunganui and is really enjoying working in her hometown. She studied at the University of Otago, graduating in 2013.
Rose attained Fellowship in General Practice in 2020. Her special interests include women’s health and paediatrics. Rose is married with two young girls.
Dr Matilda Lawrence
MBChB, FRNZCGP
Matilda grew up in Wales and graduated from Bristol University Medical School in 2009, Matilda joined the team in September 2014.
She is passionate about health promotion and enjoys working with patients to manage both their presenting issues and improving their overall wellbeing.
Matilda enjoys the outdoors. She competes in triathlon, running and mountain biking events.
Dr Daniel McIntosh
Daniel, a Tauranga local, attended Otumoetai College before studying accounting and working as an auditor in Auckland. He then studied Medicine and graduated at Auckland University.
His medical interest include Paediatrics, Respiratory Medicine and Minor surgery.
Daniel is married to Kylie, they have two sons and a daughter.
Dr Sarah Oberer
BSc, MBChB, FRNZCGP
Sarah went to Medical School in Otago and graduated in 2012. She Spent her house surgeon years at Tauranga Hospital and began working as a GP in 2015. She joined Dee Street in June 2016.
Before Medical School, Sarah was a NZ athletics representative in the 100m and Long Jump. She has a keen interest in sports medicine, adolescent health and women’s health. She keeps busy outside of work looking after her 2 young children and when there is time she loves to surf, run and wakeboard.
Dr Haz Roslan
Haz was born in Perak, Malaysia. Obtained his medical degree at Queen's Uni of Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK, Completed two years foundation training in West Yorkshire. Then went on to complete GP training in Manchester in Aug 2019. He worked as a GP in England for 5 yrs and spent 1 year in Manchester doing clinical research.
Haz enjoys traveling, playing squash and is trying to start running again and get back to the gym. He is looking forward to exploring the beautiful nature NZ has got to offer and enjoying summer in Tauranga

Prescribing Pharmacist Pat
Pat grew up in Sydney, Australia, and has called New Zealand home since 2018. He completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney in 2015, followed by a Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice in 2017. After two years working in Sydney, he moved to Auckland, where he became a Senior Clinical Pharmacist at Middlemore Hospital, later transitioning into private practice at Allevia Hospital as a Specialist Pharmacist in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Intensive Care.
In 2025, Pat relocated to Mount Maunganui to enjoy a better work-life balance by the ocean. He has since worked in general practice and completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Pharmacist Prescribing at the University of Otago. As a Pharmacist Prescriber, his focus is on metabolic health-particularly the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, gout, and weight management. He aims to continue expanding his scope to better serve the Mount community.
Outside of work, Pat spends as much time in the water as possible and never misses a chance to surf. He lives with his fiancée, who shares his love of the ocean and the outdoors, and they feel grateful to call Mount Maunganui home.
