GP Appointments

What you need to know about making an appointment with your GP.

We are fortunate to have a team of eight caring, highly qualified and experienced doctors to provide advice and help you navigate health concerns.

All doctors at Dee Street Medical Centre work varying hours. You may see any doctor of your choice, although for continuity of care we encourage you to book with your regular doctor.

Our standard consultations are limited to 10 minutes. We kindly request that you limit your visit with the doctor to a maximum to two issues per visit. If you have multiple health concerns to discuss, you can book a double appointment (this will need to be done via phone).

In addition to in-person consultations we can also provide consults via phone or video call - you can request this when you book.

What to do if you're a new patient

All new patients will need to book a "New Patient Appointment" for your first visit.

At this appointment, you will have a 10 minute consultation with a health care assistant who will take some routine health measures, followed by a 10 minute appointment with your selected GP.

There is a one-off, additional cost for this so the Doctor can review your previous medical notes and spend time getting to know you during the initial consultation.

Our reception team will also help you to resister for Manage My Health, a secure online portal where you can book appointments, see your results, manage prescriptions and view your notes and health information.

Our doctors: Dr John Aiken, Dr Heather Burling, Dr Harry Faulls, Dr Lara Cunneen, Dr Rose Kilburn, Dr Matilda Lawrence, Dr Daniel McIntosh, Dr Sarah Oberer

Important information

Wait times for appointments

We aim to provide routine appointments within a few days. If your health concern is more urgent, please phone the practice on 07 5754057 to speak to a nurse who can triage your query and provide you with advice and best care options.

Cancelling your appointment

At least two hours’ notice of cancellation of your appointment is required. If you do not attend your scheduled appointment time, a fee will apply.

Getting your test results

Your results will be available via the Manage My Health patient portal, and if needed we will ring you to discuss these. However, if you have not heard from us a week after the test was taken, please phone and speak to a nurse.

What to do when it's after hours

The practice is open Monday to Friday 8am until 5pm. There is an after hours walk-in GP service provided at Accident & Healthcare on Second Ave, Tauranga until 9pm, 7 days a week, or you can book a virtual consultation 8am to 10pm with an online GP service, Practice Plus.
